How many counselling sessions will I need?
This varies depending on each individuals circumstances. Some people come for brief therapy and others stay longer term. This will depend on the difficulties you are experiencing and your needs from counselling. I would normally suggest starting off that you commit to coming for 6 sessions and we will review your requirements at that point.
How often will we meet?
Normally sessions are held on the same day and time weekly. This may vary, if you come in crisis I may recommend two sessions a week to start with. As you move towards finishing counselling sessions might be scheduled every second week.
Do I need to be referred from my GP?
You do not need to be referred from your GP. You can make an appointment with me directly. GP’s often will refer patients through for counselling however this is not a requirement.
Is what I tell you confidential?
Confidentially is a core element of counselling. You will be able to trust that the information you bring to the counselling room will remain in the room.
There are some exceptions to the confidentiality rule. These are:
- If there is a serious risk that you or another person may be harmed.
- If you disclose that a child may be at risk.
In our first session I will go through confidentiality with you and answer any questions you may have.
What is the cost of the session?
The session cost is €80 for individual therapy. Couples Therapy sessions are 1.5 hours and the cost is €180. Individual sessions for one hour as part of the couples therapy cost €90. Payment is made by cash, bank transfer or Revolut payments.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
Sometimes it may happen that you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations of less than 24 hours notice will incur a full session charge.
